Purpose of Role:

The IDAM Engineer is responsible for the operation of Identity Management and Authentication systems across the GVC Group of companies.  This will include Active Directory and O365 across the company as well as the Single Sign on solution.   These systems are key to every colleague in the organisation being able to work and use IT systems.

● Responsible for the operational aspects of the directory services systems (e.g. Active Directory), including: ○ Health of directory Services replication ○ Health of Domain controllers ○ Health of Single Sign on Service ○ Ensuring adequate Patching & Anti Virus is maintained within the directory services environment
● Follow enterprise policies, standards and position statements for new and existing Active Directory related technologies
● Provide capacity planning and performance monitoring including disaster recovery
● Provide 3rd level support for Active Directory for end users and administration teams
● Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are followed for identity management
● Provides regular reports to the Director of End User Services to ensure that active IDs are appropriate and current and configured according to security policy
● Maintaining directory services data sync to any upstream sources and any downstream consumers of identity
● Operational management of the Single Sign on Service (Okta)
● Provision of new services into the Single Sign on service
● Responsible for contributing to regular audits with respect to identity management
● Participate in security and application troubleshooting and incident problem resolutions with other teams as required
● Ownership of SLAs for services in-scope, ensuring service quality is met
● Responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of services in scope
● Reporting on agreed KPIs
● Support 24X7 operations by participating in the out of hours support rota
● Ensuring that adequate monitoring and alerting is in place for services in scope of role and that the Service Quality team are provided with visibility 
● Maintain stability of services in scope
● Ensure Support services are maintained to meet business requirements
● Ensure services are continually improved where possible 
● Ensure adequate monitoring & alerting is maintained and fit for purpose 
Additional Information



  • Proven experience working in fast-paced, technology led environment, serving both internal and third-party platforms 
  • A track record creating large-scale, global high availability, mission-critical digital products and IT systems. In addition, they must have a proven background delivering major IT or commercial programmes 
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Expert knowledge of Office 365
  • Expert knowledge of SAML 2 and other Single Sign On technologies
  • Expert knowledge of Azure Active directory
  • Excellent root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive experience in IT infrastructure services: DNS, DHCP, DFS, LDAP, ADFS, Azure and GPO
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Active Directory. Knowledge of cloud-based Directory Services like Windows Azure AD.
  • Experience with AD migrations using ADMT and 3rd party tools like Quest and NetIQ.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering technical solutions that address commercial problems. 
  • A proven record of designing & delivering secure and scalable Identity solutions - e.g. Active Directory, Single Sign on solutions
  • Must have a solid understanding of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles, practices and processes in providing and managing the delivery of a large scale, enterprise-wide service.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to transform technical knowledge into business language (e.g. reports, presentations, etc.)
