Purpose Of Role

 

The risk analyst is responsible for the managing and monitoring of both client and house risks on an ongoing basis as well as communicating these findings to the SMT

Primary responsibilities:

 

·         Leading 2nd line of defense risk management for the HNW/HNWI Desk

·         Control & Manage optimal execution of the firm’s risk policy and procedures

·         Continually develop improved risk controls and adjust to changes in the trading environment

·          Ensure the firm’s risk policy remains in line with regulatory rules and guidance.

 

Operational responsibilities

 

·          Margining of clients daily with margin calls to be communicated to the account managers by 9am and ongoing, intraday management of margin calls

·         Analysis of current margin rates and applicable changes to be made monthly (and ad-hoc)

·          Monitoring of counterparty risks in line with firm policy

·          Ensure house margin position is reviewed each morning and any funds required are instructed before 10am

·          Working with the operations team to develop and implement efficient calculation of FX risks and work on methodology for hedging where appropriate

·          Working with the business development team to analyze client credit requests before communicating the same to the Head of Black

·          Regular review of all open credit lines and reporting back to Head of Black

Qualifications

 

Specialist skills and experience

 

·         Extensive knowledge and experience of risk, the way derivatives are traded, including the OTC market, is essential as well as the derivatives market place itself.  3+ year experience desired

·         Knowledge of the current requirements for FCA and other reporting inc MiFID II and EMIR

·         Excellent numerative ability and the use of Excel is imperative

·         Creative and innovative in approach to challenges

·         Qualifications in risk would be favourable but not a pre-requisite

 

Competencies and behaviour's

·         Strong interpersonal skills essential to being able to fit into the team and to develop a relationship with the brokers

·         Knowledge of, and ability to use trading technology to assist in Risk management (BBG, Reuters etc) would be desirable.

·         Quick learner in technology as there will be a need to learn new systems in a short timeframe such as ProTrader and SalesForce
