About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Delivery based in Gibraltar, the Engineering Lead primary responsibility will be to manage a team of developers and testers and be responsible for the quality of their output and SDLC. The team is an extension of a small development and testing team based in London and the role will work as an interface and as a facilitator of communication between the two locations.

The Tech Lead will be responsible for all aspects of hiring, managing performance, providing support, motivation, coaching and development of direct reports in Manila.

The ideal candidate would have had prior experience as a senior developer or technical architect in the context of a large organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the marketing architect and the London team leads to design and deliver high volume, low latency marketing solutions
  • Monitoring adherence of team members in Manila to the overall team’s policies and governance
  • Working with the delivery managers and PMs to provide estimates and build plans
  • Ensure the output of the development team is high quality and timely
  • Accountable for the overall performance of his line reports
  • ensures the workforce works effectively and efficiently to achieve delivery goals and operational support KPIs as set out by the department heads
  • Ability to spot performance issues in the team and agree remedial plans with department heads
  • Workforce management duties such as schedule and leave management
  • Review team performance and provide corrective action plan/s – perform 1:1 coaching, provide support, motivation and development of staff
  • Hiring and interfacing with HR
  • Ensures company policies are adhered to
  • Looks after new starters and leaver process
  • Assists in conducting regular training needs analysis for personal and professional development of the staff
  • Ensuring succession plans are in place for key positions in his team
  • Handle escalations on a timely mannerQualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Must possess a High School Diploma, Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree, any field.
Specialist Skills and Experience Required
  • At least 10 years in the IT industry
  •  Experience with AWS infrastructure
  • Experience with doing team performance reviews and provide corrective action plan/s – perform 1:1 coaching, provide support, motivation and development of staff
  • Working with HR regarding to any payroll and disciplinary measure concerns
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Experience managing matrix teams
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skill
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team oriented, high demand and fast paced environment
  • Strong relationship and client management skills
  • Professional attitude and client service orientation; collaborative and results-oriented
  • At least 5 years’ experience with Java development
  • Strong experience of micro-services oriented architecture
  • Experience with front-end development
