About The Role
To assist with the paddock services for the Stadium to maintain the effective delivery of the greyhound racing product whilst implementing procedures and operate to standards which ensure the integrity and safety of greyhounds and handlers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Always look presentable and wear the correct uniform at all times;
  • When instructed, present the Greyhound for inspection by the Paddock Steward and Veterinary surgeon;
  • When instructed, line up the Greyhound in trap order and proceed in orderly line to track;
  • Parade Greyhounds in front of Grandstand stopping for individual parade announcement;
  • When instructed, proceed with the Greyhound to rear of starting traps and wait until the greyhound has been placed in the traps by the starter;
  • When instructed take up position around track to ensure safe completion of race, by removing injured Greyhounds and preventing Greyhounds from running in the wrong direction;
  • Collect Greyhounds from “pick-up” after race and return to paddock, remove race jacket and hand Greyhound back to kennel representative;
  • If Greyhound is winner of a trophy race, proceed to presentation area after race.
  • On Instruction from Racing Manager notify the Veterinary surgeon of any Greyhound to be checked for injury;
  • Ensure you provide a friendly and professional service and build and maintain relationships with the trainers and other key stakeholders.
Health & Safety and Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all equipment in the paddock area is working safely and is compliant with manufacturer’s guidelines for operation, reporting any concerns to the Paddock Supervisor.
Additional Information
  • You are required to follow the Work Instruction Notices (WIN), or Stadia Operating Procedures (SOP) that are relevant to your role. These can be found on the company Intranet.
  • The company may also communicate ad hoc notifications through line managers and notices boards - these will also form a part of your health and safety responsibilities.
Qualifications and Training Requirements:
  •  NVQ animal welfare is preferred but not essential
Specialist Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working directly with greyhounds
  • Strong knowledge of the greyhound industry
  • Ability to operate within a fast paced outdoor environment
