About The Role
We are seeking a Head of Data to expand and manage a growing team of data engineers looking to leverage Data as a key business asset. The candidate would be expected to be a key contributor to multiple high profile data and analytics projects, drive the data agenda.


The role will also be a key link between the business teams, stakeholders and the Data Warehouse/data teams, in setting priorities, identifying issues, and owning projects. The role requires a combination of strong technology background, project management skills, people management skills and business acumen.

The role will also require strategic thinking related to Data architecture and Technology in order to work with the Data delivery team based in India to determine what are the best technologies and the best processes to manage our Data environment allowing state of the art CRM, Digital campaigns and Insight and Analytics work.

Since the team is growing and there are multiple projects in the pipeline, the role requires definition and implementation of new ways of working that ensures all teams and projects are successful and deliver on time.

This involves directly managing the Data team across Gibraltar, UK and India. It also includes working with the Data Warehouse team, Advanced Analytics team, Insights team, Research team, Central Digital team, CRM, CEX and Regional marketing and BI teams in addition external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Data Engineering on all Marketing projects
  • Data sourcing from all sources of Marketing data that are not available in the data warehouse and enabling transformation to be consumed by the various teams within Marketing for reporting, insights and analytics
  • Leading, directing and developing the Data Management function providing capabilities including Data Quality Management, Master Data Management and Reference Data Management
  • Manage the working relationship with DWH, prioritise items based on business needs and ensure data development requirements for Marketing are delivered Development and management of policies, strategies, standards, processes, roles to improve the quality and availability of data for Marketing
  • Own and manage data applications & solutions for marketing
  • Managing data activities and coordinate across the regional BI teams
  • Business UAT on data development items
  • Translate business data needs for Optimove to DWH for development as well as to Optimove


  • Recruit and expand the current team
  • Onboard and integrate new resources into the business and into cross department projects

Skills and Experience:

  • Commercially curious with natural desire to be connected with the commercial agenda of the business
  • Very strong technology, data and analytics skills
  • Proven experience of running a data and analytics / insight team that has created demonstrable change through the commercial use of insight/ data driven outputs
  • Robust knowledge of all elements of CRM and CX management including use of behavioural customer segmentations
  • Experience of delivering data initiatives within a complex and multi-stakeholder environment
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and query tools ie. SQL Server, TSQL, PL-SQL
  • Advanced and proficient skills in reporting tools including the development and design of advanced queries and including Excel, VBA, SQL or similar reporting tools
  • Technical knowledge of data architecture and data management systems
  • Up to date knowledge of the latest developments in the industry
  • Knowledge of Data governance
  • Ability to articulate analysis for a non-technical audience with clarity and in an engaging way
  • The ability to adapt to the changing nature of the business and industry with an innovative approach to ensure improved solutions supports ongoing business performance
  • Experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders and an ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Experience of setting up and establishing a team of analysts, subject matter experts
  • Multitasking in a complex environment  


  • Experience in working in Big Data Projects, and also working with different Advanced Analytics platforms
  • Experience working as part of a BI team, driving the data agenda across the organization
  • Experience in establishing strategies and visions. Forward thinking
  • Experience working in a commercial team and with the requirements associated with those datasets (digital, transactional, behavioural data)
  • Experience in Data quality management and in conducting analysis to determine if data developments have been delivered to the expected specification and expectation.
  •  Some experience of managing 3rd party suppliers
